The Relationship Between the Use of Slang Language and the Level of Politeness in Language Among Students of SMA Islam Athirah Bukit Baruga Scientific Paper. SMA Islam Athirah Bukit Baruga. Slang language refers to colloquial speech, which is a style of language formed through the development and modification of other languages, typically characterized by being somewhat secretive and known only to certain groups. The diversity of slang used by young people indicates that slang is not just a means of communication, but can also serve as a measure of the level of politeness in language among students. Based on this, the aim of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between the use of slang and the level of politeness in language. The study was conducted with 62 students from grade XII. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling through the Slovin formula. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires in grade XII. The data analysis technique used was Pearson correlation or the product-moment correlation. Data analysis was conducted with the help of Microsoft Excel. The results of this study show that: (1) There is no significant relationship between the use of slang language and the level of politeness in language among grade XII students of SMA Islam Athirah Bukit Baruga, with a correlation classified as very weak. (2) Based on the Pearson correlation analysis (137 > 0.05), it can be concluded that there is no relationship between the use of slang language and the level of politeness in language among grade XII students of SMA Islam Athirah Bukit Baruga. (3) There are 5 slang words that are frequently used by the students of grade XII at SMA Islam Athirah Bukit Baruga.
